My daughter has Autism & ADHD, Leaving the house is a very big deal and something Esmae really struggles with.
We went to tread UK courtesy of the Wigan parent carer forum and wow, absolutely amazing!!
I’ve never experienced such a lovely, calm environment. I was very nervous leaving my girls here, specifically esmae as she is very prone to meltdowns in a new place. However the staff were amazing, and esmae was so relaxed throughout. 0 meltdowns and she still speaks about how amazing it was. It gives me so much hope knowing there are sessions like this for children like esmae, who has so many difficulties. It was also amazing for me to have a 2 hour break knowing esmae was in a safe, but also happy environment.
Esmae absolutely loves the outdoors - and things like this will really boost her confidence. It also made a change from Esmae hiding herself away in her bedroom, and best of all Esmaes little sister went along with her, Esmae doesn’t usually tolerate her well and wants to be alone however for the whole 2 hours she stayed by her sister, helping her, and really did love it.
The interaction my girls got from the 3 adults at tread UK have impacted on them so positively, and we cannot wait to go back again.
Thank you so so much for this opportunity xxx
Ethan recently attended the sessions at umbrella arts. This was such a welcome respite during lockdown which allowed Ethan some quiet time away from home to do something he really enjoys. He was nervous at first going to a new place however Wendy was brilliant putting him at ease and his confidence grew over the sessions. Giving Ethan time away from home really helped him in the lockdown and it also benefited his younger brother giving them some time apart and their own space. We feel so lucky to have been able to access these activities for free.
Many thanks

My son and his friend attended Tread UK Woodland Hideout on Saturday 27th March. This is the first time we have ever been to Tread Uk, I saw the advert on Facebook for Parent Carers. My son Spencer is 7 and has autism and ADHD, his friend Billy is also 7 and has a chromosome disorder, during lockdown there has been no activities available for him to attend so I was so excited when I saw the advert. I have never been able to leave Spencer at any holiday clubs before as he point blank refuses to stay. This session was for 2 hours and was perfect, not too long. Spencer loved his experience, the rangers where really good and the groups very small so he was not overwhelmed. He has been asking when he can go back, which is praise in deed from Spencer. This has given him confidence to leave me and try something new. Activities like these are a lifeline to my sanity as it gives me a break as well as giving Spencer some independence as he relies so heavily on me. Spencer has really suffered with his anxiety during lockdown and at one point would not stay in a room in our house alone, he has irrational fear of being left alone so the fact that he was able to to do this activity without me is a miracle. I hope activities like these can continue as we will definitely be first on the waiting list to attend.
Kind Regards,
Invaluable to us / my 6 year old hadn’t really ventured out further than our housing
estate/school in a year due to fears since lockdown restrictions - he’s diagnosed autistic and he’s had extreme highs and lows this year.
I attended My Life CIC with our pa nothing was too much trouble on the day - good directions, accessible parking, knowledgeable staff, refreshments laid on, good toilet facilities and Wigan PCF even hand-delivered our consent forms on a weekend as we don’t have a printer. It was totally free of charge making all the difference since we are struggling financially. My son had never held an animal before and loved it! He planted a hollyhock to take home and collected freshly laid eggs from the chickens learning all about it. Also he engaged well with the small group well and made friends.
Thank you again for a positive experience.
Reece really loved going to tread uk, it got him outside, he had so much fun and enjoyment. He had been to tread before and the staff are amazing for both me and reece, they sent me text update the first time
He went because I was so anxious to leave him.
While reece was there I was able to go collect my shopping, his dad was able to spend time with his younger brother.
Reece had a brother during the first week of lockdown, so he had had massive change to adapt to,He struggles at times with the noise his brother makes and this causes reece to create more noise which then unsettles his brother so reece going here allowed them both some escape time.
He was very excited to tell me about what fun he had when I collected him and was already asking when he was going to go back .

My 2 daughter have both attend amazing sessions through WPCF at a local setting Umbrella Art. They both benefited from time out of the house and school the pandemic has hit them hard both being thrown out of routines that they so desperately need to ease the struggles in there daily life.
The sessions enabled them both to be creative and explore new medium with a safe and inviting environment.
L was able to make a friend which was a massive accomplishment as she struggles with this. EM was able to work on what she chose with out a structure to the outcome.
These sessions have been amazing as I would have need been able to do this if it wasn't for WPCF.
THANK YOU
My son has benefitted from attending art sessions, a farm session and a bush craft session. The sessions were fantastic and provided an opportunity to leave the house (something he has struggled with during the COVID-19 pandemic) to do something fun. He loves animals and art and these activities help him to feel calm so the sessions were perfect for him. They were a welcome relief from screen time and Zooms and allowed him to focus on something
positive and interact with other children. Thank you so much for these opportunities.
